London, 15 September 2022 – Natixis Investment Managers (Natixis IM), one of the world’s largest asset managers, today announces the winners of its Global Equal Opportunities Advancement Scholarships, a program aimed at increasing the diversity of students entering the financial services industry in the UK. Two sixth form students from East Haringey, one of the most deprived areas in London, have been selected to receive up to £9,250 annually towards their university tuition and expenses, along with internship opportunities and mentoring at Natixis IM.

The new scholarship program, now in its second year, is aligned with Natixis IM’s 2024 strategic ambitions, to be a responsible employer and create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Each summer, the scholars will have the opportunity to do a paid internship at Natixis IM to gain hands-on work experience and explore working in the business and financial management field. Over the duration of the program, the scholars will be encouraged to identify and focus on areas of the business they find most interesting, and their internships will be tailored to reflect this.

“We launched the scholarship program in 2020, as part of the firm’s long-standing commitment to support local communities and to reinforce its broader efforts to increase diversity in the financial services industry,” says Charlene Sagoe, International Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Natixis Investment Managers. “As a business, we are committed to attracting and growing young talent from diverse backgrounds, essential to help evolve inclusivity in the industry and to nurture the next generation of investment management professionals,” Charlene added.

Liban Ali and Giovanni Rose-Stewart, both of whom studied at The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, have been selected as winners of the 2022 Natixis Investment Managers Global Equal Opportunities Advancement Scholarships. Giovanni will attend King’s College London to study Mathematics and Liban will read Computer Science at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Liban Ali added, “I am grateful that this program removes the financial burden of going into higher education and provides insight into the professional world that individuals like me typically would not be given.”

Giovanni Rose-Stewart commented, “The lack of representation in the financial industry is alarming. This scholarship tackles that issue and allows students from underrepresented backgrounds to contribute to this world of work.”

The UK program is designed in partnership with Haringey Community Gold & The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham and provides students from one of the most deprived boroughs in London in their pursuit of higher education studies and career development in business related studies. Similar programs are currently being implemented in Boston and Paris.
